Design Drafter (Mechanical CAD)

About the role

The Design Drafter will create detailed 2D drawings and 3D solid models for Moog's advanced flight‑control and actuation systems, working closely with engineering, sales and program management teams.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with functional disciplines to define design, drawing and fabrication requirements.
• Lead the graphical evolution of new products from layout to final drawings, ensuring correct proportions, dimensions and material suggestions.
• Produce final drawings and 3D models independently or collaboratively using CAD tools.
• Support bid and proposal efforts by providing layouts, assemblies and clearance checks.
• Organize and plan drawing sets, review detail drawings for completeness and accuracy, and coordinate project status reviews.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Engineering or Design with 3 + years relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with comparable experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of good drafting practices, machine‑shop processes, descriptive geometry and geometric tolerancing.
• Strong understanding of mechanical hardware design for kinematic mechanisms and packaging within customer‑defined envelopes.
• Familiarity with material properties, strength, stress and thermal effects.

Required skills

• Mechanical CAD (MCAD) tools – Siemens NX
• Teamcenter PLM (preferred)
• Descriptive geometry and dimensioning techniques
• Geometric tolerancing
• Knowledge of machine‑shop and part‑fabrication methods
