Design Drafter – Manufacturing Tooling & Fixtures

About the role

Moog is seeking a Design Drafter to join its Military Aircraft Group in Buffalo, NY. The role focuses on creating and supporting tooling, fixtures, gaging, and automation equipment for both mature production programs and new development projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 3‑D models of cutting tools, fixtures, gages, and test equipment using Siemens NX (Unigraphics).
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers, Product Engineers, shop floor staff, and A&T Technicians to validate designs.
• Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings for in‑house or supplier production.
• Explore and recommend new work‑holding techniques and automation solutions.
• Maintain communication with the Moog Tool Room and external suppliers regarding manufacturability and cost.
• Estimate design times and track tool workflow using Jira.

Required profile

• Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or 5+ years of equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Proven ability to design complex tooling and fixtures for machining and assembly.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing constraints and production processes.

Required skills

• Siemens NX (Unigraphics) for 3‑D modeling and drafting.
• Jira for workflow management.
