Deputy Head of the Washington DC Office

About the role

The Deputy Head of the Washington DC Office will support the Office Head in overseeing daily operations, managing junior staff, and driving complex client engagements. This senior position blends investigative leadership, project management, and business development within a fast‑paced, confidential environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end client engagements, from intake and proposal preparation through billing and delivery of investigative work products.
• Develop investigative plans, monitor research progress, manage budgets, and ensure high‑quality deliverables.
• Drive business development by conducting intake meetings, preparing proposals, and generating new opportunities.
• Oversee staffing in collaboration with the New York Deputy Office Head and regional leadership.
• Supervise junior staff, monitor utilization and performance, conduct regular check‑ins, and lead professional development and performance evaluations.
• Participate in recruitment and talent acquisition activities.
• Travel as required and support hybrid working arrangements.

Required profile

• 8–10 years of investigative and supervisory experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong sense of confidentiality.
• Proven leadership ability to motivate diverse teams and drive consensus.
• Demonstrated business development acumen and financial performance contribution.
• College degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Fluency in a language other than English is a plus.
