Dental Hygienist – Part‑Time

About the role

The Rural Clinic at Mountains Community Hospital is seeking a part‑time Dental Hygienist to join the dental team on Thursdays and Fridays. You will work under the supervision of a dentist, providing preventive and therapeutic oral care to patients.

Key responsibilities

• Examine patients' teeth and gums, record findings, and remove calculus, stains, and plaque.
• Perform root planning, take and develop dental X‑rays, and apply fluoride and sealants.
• Assist the dentist chairside, place temporary fillings, periodontal dressings, and remove sutures.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, diet impact, and proper use of dental care tools.

Required profile

• Dental Hygienist certificate, associate or baccalaureate degree in dental hygiene.
• Current California Dental Hygienist license, current X‑ray license and CPR certification.
• Preferred: at least one year of dental experience (RDH preferred).

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand, rotary and ultrasonic dental instruments.
• Ability to operate dental X‑ray equipment and develop radiographs.
• Experience applying fluoride, pit‑and‑fissure sealants, and performing periodontal therapy.
• Knowledge of local anesthetic administration and suturing techniques.
