Delivery Driver (CDL)

About the role

HD Supply is looking for a delivery driver who moves inventory between distribution centers using a company-provided or rental vehicle. The driver also maintains delivery records, inspects and maintains delivery vehicles, and makes customer deliveries as needed. The position requires an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a hazardous materials endorsement.

Key responsibilities

• Transport inventory, including hazardous materials, safely between distribution centers and cross-dock locations.
• Ensure order manifests are complete and accurate and that trailers are loaded with the correct merchandise.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections in line with DOT regulations and internal policies, and report vehicle defects, accidents, violations or damage.
• Maintain records such as vehicle logs and bills of lading.
• Follow planned routes for timely deliveries while obeying traffic laws and safety regulations, and provide professional customer service.
• Move line-haul trailers around the shipping yard and loading docks, and make local deliveries as needed.

Required profile

• Class A or B CDL issued in the state of residence with a hazardous materials endorsement (preferred).
• 2+ years of commercial driving experience under FMCSA and DOT regulations, and 1+ year operating material handling equipment (preferred).
• No more than 2 minor accidents or 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
• Generally 5-7 years of experience in a related area; technical certification or associate degree may be required in some cases.
• Ability to work independently with occasional overnight travel (less than 10% of the time).
