Dean of the Killam Library

About the role

Texas A&M International University is seeking a dynamic and forward‑thinking leader to serve as Dean of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library. The Dean will shape the library’s vision, align its services with the university’s academic mission, and act as a key partner in supporting teaching, learning, research, and scholarship.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership for the Killam Library and its team of 20 full‑time staff and approximately 20 part‑time student workers.
• Manage an annual budget of $2.6 million, overseeing financial, physical, and technological resources.
• Direct all library operations, including user services, interlibrary collaboration, technology systems, strategic planning, assessment, marketing, and public relations.
• Initiate needs assessments, oversee acquisition, cataloging, classification, and circulation of library materials, and manage collaborative agreements.
• Seek external funding, write grant proposals, and develop partnerships with campus, community, and other institutions.
• Develop, interpret, and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient daily operations and long‑term quality improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in academic library administration or a comparable senior leadership role.
• Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, manage substantial budgets, and foster collaborative environments.
• Strong commitment to supporting student success, faculty research, and academic innovation.
• Excellent communication skills and a track record of building external partnerships.
