About the role
The Dean serves as the chief administrative officer of the Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music, reporting directly to the University Provost. This senior leader provides strategic vision and operational oversight for a school with a $30 million annual operating budget.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement an ambitious, shared vision for the School.
- Lead a faculty of ~120 and staff of ~50, overseeing recruitment, development, and performance.
- Manage the School’s budget, ensuring financial health and sustainability.
- Drive fundraising, community partnership, and external representation efforts.
- Promote cross‑disciplinary initiatives and entrepreneurial program development.
- Enhance the School’s global reputation and standing.
Required profile
- Proven senior leadership experience in higher education, preferably within music or the arts.
- Demonstrated ability to secure funding and build external relationships.
- Strong track record of faculty and staff development.
- Commitment to innovative, experiential music education.
