DBA Lead

About the role

The DBA Lead will own the design, management and operation of critical database platforms that power LexisNexis Risk Solutions’ insurance products. You will mentor a team of DBAs, define database strategy, and drive automation, reliability and performance across hybrid and cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain stability, availability and health of all database services and related technologies.
• Lead research, evaluation and adoption of new database technologies, architectures and upgrades.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to DBAs on complex design, infrastructure and maintenance topics.
• Collaborate with architects, developers and DevOps to deliver resilient, scalable data services.
• Design and support multi‑region, high‑availability and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Own incident response, root‑cause analysis and performance tuning for production databases.

Required profile

• 7+ years of hands‑on database administration experience.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring or managing technical teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Strong problem‑solving, project planning and communication skills.

Required skills

• MySQL administration, replication design and HA/DR architectures.
• Percona XtraBackup, snapshot‑based recovery and major version migrations.
• Query optimization, performance tuning and capacity management.
• Database security administration and governance.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Oracle.
• Cloud‑hosted database services on Azure (MySQL Flexible Server, Managed Services) and AWS (RDS, Aurora).
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Terragrunt.
• CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and scripting in Python, Bash/Shell.
• Automation tools such as Ansible.
• Observability platforms: Grafana, Datadog, ELK, Azure Monitor, CloudWatch.
• SRE concepts including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets and incident management.
