Data Scientist – Predictive Modeling (Hybrid, Temple, TX)

About the role

McLane is seeking a Data Scientist to develop and operationalize predictive models that support its nationwide distribution operations. The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week on‑site in Temple, Texas, and focuses on turning business data into actionable insights.

Key responsibilities

• Build, evaluate and deploy predictive models using data preparation, feature engineering, model selection and validation techniques.
• Collaborate with the data engineering team to scale models and data pipelines in Azure/Databricks.
• Perform data mining, exploration and analysis to uncover business opportunities.
• Design, train and implement machine‑learning algorithms aligned with stakeholder needs.
• Develop KPIs, forecasting models and visual dashboards (Tableau) to support decision‑making.
• Guide projects through requirements, design, development, testing, demonstration and deployment phases.
• Provide ad‑hoc analytical support and other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, analytics or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least two years of experience in predictive modeling and machine‑learning projects.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Familiarity with data‑science libraries such as NumPy, Pandas and MATLAB.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure and Databricks platforms.
• Ability to work collaboratively throughout all project phases.
