Data Scientist – Cyber Analytics (Security Solutions)

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join the Cyber Analytics team within Mastercard’s Security Solutions Data Science organization. The role focuses on advanced analytics, fraud detection, and strategic decision‑making across cybersecurity and payment fraud domains.

Key responsibilities

• Gain subject‑matter knowledge on web application security, cyber vulnerabilities, and online/payment card fraud.
• Build, develop, and maintain predictive models and machine‑learning algorithms on large data sets to support analytics across products and markets.
• Analyze large datasets to identify patterns, translate insights into technical rules, and combine cybersecurity with transaction data for new fraud views.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to understand data pipelines and deliver scalable solutions.
• Translate stakeholder needs into technical analyses, communicate results to senior leadership, and design metrics to track model performance and product usage.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
• Professional experience in data science, preferably within payments or cybersecurity.
• Self‑starter with strong problem‑solving abilities and high energy.
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for cybersecurity.

Required skills

• Python programming for statistical and machine‑learning models.
• Large‑scale data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Hadoop and Databricks.
• SQL for data management and mining.
• Graph databases and graph‑machine‑learning techniques, including graph neural networks.
• Predictive modeling and machine‑learning algorithm development.
