Data Scientist – Atlanta, GA

About the role

At Cortland, a leading multifamily real‑estate firm, the Data Scientist will turn complex data into production‑ready insights that support investment and operational decisions. Working in Atlanta, you will partner with business leaders to design, build and deploy advanced analytics and machine learning solutions that drive growth.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prioritize and deliver high‑value predictive and optimization use cases with business stakeholders.
• Design, develop and maintain machine‑learning and statistical models for operational and investment strategies.
• Collaborate with data and engineering teams to create pipelines, infrastructure and processes for production analytics.
• Deliver end‑to‑end solutions, including model deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Use BI, GIS and visualization tools to communicate insights to technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Act as technical lead for AI initiatives and mentor teams on adoption.
• Stay current with emerging data‑science tools and bring relevant innovations into the organization.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (statistics, applied math, computer science, engineering, business analytics); advanced degree preferred.
• 2+ years of professional experience applying data science or advanced analytics in a business setting.
• Strong foundation in statistical modeling, machine learning, clustering, classification, recommendation systems and optimization.
• Ability to explain analytical approaches, trade‑offs and outcomes clearly to diverse audiences.
