Data Platform Engineer

About the role

Greystar is looking for a senior Data Platform Engineer to join its Data team. The role focuses on operating and evolving a Databricks‑native medallion architecture on Microsoft Azure, ensuring reliability, governance, and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Databricks workspaces, including upgrades, cluster policies, compute configurations, and Delta table lifecycle.
• Manage Unity Catalog access controls, service principals, groups, users, and data lineage.
• Optimize Spark jobs for performance and cost, profiling bottlenecks and tuning partitioning and Z‑ordering.
• Define and enforce platform standards such as naming conventions, schema evolution policies, SLA tiers, and medallion layer contracts.
• Leverage Databricks Mosaic AI and Genie for AI‑native DataOps capabilities, including pipeline monitoring and anomaly detection.
• Operate the full Azure data services stack: ADLS Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Key Vault, Event Hub, Synapse, Cosmos DB, and SQL Server.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with deep technical expertise in data platform engineering.
• Proven experience managing large‑scale Azure and Databricks environments.
• Strong focus on reliability, governance, and cost optimization.
