Data Engineer

About the role

Serval is building an AI‑native automation platform and is looking for its first dedicated Data Engineer. You will own the end‑to‑end data stack, consolidate data from multiple sources, and create a reliable, self‑serve data warehouse that powers product and business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate a unified data warehouse, handling modeling, pipelines, data quality, and performance as a product for the whole company.
• Integrate data from production Postgres databases and SaaS systems (CRM, marketing, billing, support, finance) into a single source of truth.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and go‑to‑market teams to define gold‑standard metrics and deliver trustworthy data.
• Implement data governance, security, and quality controls from day one.
• Make vendor, tooling, and architecture decisions to keep the stack lean, cost‑aware, and scalable.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering and business analytics, with a track record of owning data projects end‑to‑end.
• Strong product intuition and ability to translate ambiguous business questions into clear data models.
• Hands‑on experience building modern data warehouses or lakehouses from scratch.
• Proven ability to work in a fast‑growing startup environment.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field (preferred).

• Snowflake, Databricks or comparable lakehouse platforms
• Fivetran, DBT for ETL/ELT pipelines
• AWS cloud services
• Terraform for infrastructure as code
• Go, gRPC, React, TypeScript, Kubernetes (knowledge of the stack)
