Data Engineer – Build Scalable Analytics Foundations

About the role

Anthropic is seeking a Data Engineer to join its rapidly growing Data Science & Analytics team. You will help build the core data infrastructure that enables reliable, company‑wide metrics and self‑serve insights, supporting product, GTM and engineering stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand data needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines in dbt that convert raw logs into canonical datasets.
• Establish data integrity standards and service level agreements for timely, accurate data delivery.
• Create dashboards that surface core performance metrics to the entire organization.
• Develop data products and tools that empower teams to perform self‑serve analytics at scale.
• Influence product and GTM roadmaps from a data systems perspective.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar analytics role, preferably working with GTM and product teams.
• Strong passion for Anthropic’s mission to build safe, beneficial AI.
• Proven ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and take initiative.
• Track record of building analytics functions in fast‑moving start‑ups.

Required skills

• Expertise in dbt for multi‑step ETL pipelines.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Proficiency in version control using GitHub.
• Advanced SQL and Python for data transformation.
• Ability to build dashboards in visualization tools like Hex.
