Data Center Technician II (Night Shift)

About the role

Google’s Hardware Operations team is seeking a Data Center Technician II to work night shifts in a state‑of‑the‑art data center. You will install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain server hardware and associated software, ensuring the infrastructure that powers Google services runs reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, test and maintain servers, racks, and related components.
• Troubleshoot and repair hardware at the component level, including CPUs, memory, storage, and networking cards.
• Configure complex networking equipment such as routers, switches, hubs, and bridges, and manage networking protocols.
• Participate in or lead small project teams for larger installations and develop contingency plans.
• Manually move and install rack units, performing physically demanding tasks safely.

Required profile

• Experience performing component‑level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
• Experience diagnosing operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lb (23 kg) and perform frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and other physical activities.
• Willingness to work non‑standard hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and shift‑based schedules.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, Google IT Support Professional Certificate, and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
