Data Center Operations Technician

About the role

As a Data Center Operations Technician at xAI, you will ensure the health and performance of our server and network infrastructure across data centers and global points of presence. You will focus on key metrics such as mean time to detect (MTTD) and mean time to repair (MTTR), responding quickly to incidents and optimizing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Report to construction sites and coordinate with engineering teams.
• Troubleshoot and monitor servers and network equipment in data centers and PoPs.
• Rack, stack, and install network hardware, servers, and switches.
• Maintain warehouse inventory and asset management using internal tools.
• Label, test, and repair fiber optics and power supply cabling.
• Manage data‑center tickets in Jira and document standard operating procedures.
• Receive, de‑commission, and return hardware to vendors.
• Oversee spare‑parts inventory and design network layouts.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years experience with server, storage, compute, and network hardware.
• 2+ years troubleshooting and repairing servers and networking equipment.
• 2+ years experience in inventory management, ordering, receiving, and shipping equipment.
• Ability to respond to emergencies on‑site and communicate clearly with teammates.
• Subject to pre‑employment and random drug/alcohol testing.
