Cyclic General Maintenance Worker – Fort Jackson

About the role

We are looking for a Cyclic General Maintenance Worker to join the EMI Services team at Fort Jackson. The role involves performing routine and corrective maintenance on buildings, equipment and machinery across a variety of trades to keep the installation running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Replace broken hardware in barracks rooms, signage, electrical receptacles, switches, fixtures and motors.
• Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings using plaster or compound.
• Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, toilets and other plumbing fixtures.
• Repair or replace defective equipment parts and re‑assemble machinery.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
• Assemble, install or repair wiring, pipe systems, HVAC, and other mechanical components.
• Order parts and supplies from catalogs or storerooms.
• Perform general cleaning of buildings and properties.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in building or utility trades, or formal vocational/technical training.
• Valid driver’s license compliant with the REAL ID Act (or willingness to obtain one).
• Ability to work on‑site at Fort Jackson and follow safety procedures.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools (hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches).
• Use of precision measuring instruments and electrical/electronic testing devices.
• Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, masonry and painting trades.
• Ability to read and interpret building codes and technical drawings.
