Cybersecurity Engineer – Government ATO Specialist

About the role

MetroStar is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to protect its digital assets and support government system Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes. The role combines hands‑on security engineering with continuous monitoring and incident response in a high‑impact environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage security solutions such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and encryption.
• Conduct regular security assessments to uncover vulnerabilities in networks, systems, and applications.
• Develop and maintain incident response plans and lead investigations of security breaches.
• Collaborate with IT, development, and compliance teams to embed security controls throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Monitor network traffic, system logs, and security alerts, responding promptly to potential incidents.
• Document security configurations, processes, and produce detailed reports on findings and actions taken.

Required profile

• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
• 4+ years of experience as a cybersecurity analyst with a focus on government ATO support.
• Deep knowledge of government regulatory frameworks (NIST SP 800‑53, RMF, ICD 503, FISMA, FedRAMP).
• Proven track record achieving and maintaining ATO for cloud services (IL5‑IL6) on NIPR and SIPR networks.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and infrastructure components.
