Cyber Security Analyst – Level II

About the role

The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) is seeking a Cyber Security Analyst – Level II to join its IT Services Division. Reporting to the Executive Director of Infrastructure, the analyst will help implement and enforce citywide cybersecurity policies, standards, and directives across the agency.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of cybersecurity policies and standards aligned with New York City’s agency‑wide directives.
• Monitor networks and systems for security incidents, perform real‑time analysis, and coordinate containment and remediation efforts.
• Document incidents, produce reports, and communicate findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement of security controls through vulnerability assessments and risk analysis.

Required profile

• Eligibility limited to permanent civil‑service employees listed on the civil service roster.
• Demonstrated experience in a government or large‑scale public‑sector IT environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate and resolve security events.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and best practices.
• Experience with incident detection, analysis, and response processes.
