Customer Service - Patient Registration (PRN)

About the role

R1 RCM is recruiting a Patient Access Representative for LifePoint Cumberland Hospital in Somerset, on a PRN basis with a minimum of 48 hours a month and 24 on-call hours, with additional shifts available. The role is the first point of contact for patients, helping them get fast, compassionate and accurate access to care. No healthcare background is required, as training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients and families with the check-in process, using multiple computer systems to register patients efficiently
• Answer phones and gather accurate patient information quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Minimise delays in registration so timely access to care is supported
• Navigate insurance plans and coverage, enter demographics and medical data, collect co-pays and give cost estimates where applicable
• Work with nurses, physicians and care teams to keep patient flow smooth

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• Experience with patient access, medical registration, insurance verification or front desk is a plus but not required
