Custodian Manager – West Side

About the role

The Custodian Manager for the West Side oversees the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of more than one million square feet of student residential facilities. Reporting to the Assistant Director, the manager leads a team of four Custodial Supervisors and provides indirect supervision to a large custodial staff.

Key responsibilities

• Directly supervise four Custodial Supervisors, assigning work, monitoring performance, and providing coaching.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate custodial policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols.
• Prepare work schedules, zone assignments, and staffing models to meet APPA Level 2 standards.
• Manage budgets for over 12 accounts covering supplies, uniforms, payroll, and inventory.
• Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, evaluations, and disciplinary actions in line with civil service rules.
• Maintain inventory, order supplies, and report work‑order needs and improvement projects.
• Coordinate summer occupancy turnover and ensure quality control of living environments.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising custodial or facilities staff.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and civil service policies.
• Ability to develop and enforce performance standards.
• Experience managing budgets and inventory for large facilities.
