Custodian Manager - East Side

About the role

The Custodian Manager oversees custodial operations for more than one million square feet of student residential facilities on the East Side campus. Reporting to the Assistant Director, this position ensures safe, sanitary, and well‑maintained living environments for students.

Key responsibilities

• Directly supervise five Custodial Supervisors, assigning work, monitoring performance, and providing coaching.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate custodial policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols.
• Prepare work assignments, schedules, and zone assignments to meet APPA Level 2 cleanliness standards.
• Manage inventory, supplies, uniforms, and payroll across more than 12 budget accounts.
• Assist supervisors with hiring, onboarding, evaluations, and disciplinary actions in accordance with civil service rules.
• Coordinate summer occupancy turnover and ensure timely completion of work orders.
• Conduct quality‑control inspections and report improvements needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising custodial or facilities staff, preferably in a large residential setting.
• Strong knowledge of civil service regulations and institutional policies.
• Ability to develop and enforce performance standards and accountability measures.
• Excellent organizational and budgeting skills.
• Effective communication and conflict‑resolution abilities.

Required skills
