Custodian 3 - Lead

About the role

The Lead Custodian (Custodian 3) supports the Residential Life team by overseeing the cleanliness, safety, and overall care of assigned facilities. This on‑site position requires coordination with supervisors, management of a custodial team, and handling of on‑call emergency duties.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor in scheduling work times, assigning cleaning duties, and training new staff.
• Maintain environmental standards, manage property and equipment, and purchase supplies and tools.
• Conduct daily inspections, prepare maintenance and purchase requests using the MAXIMO work‑order system.
• Track time, attendance, leave, and inventory of cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment.
• Safeguard keys, document building inspections, and support security and safety measures.
• Lead a team of 15+ custodians, schedule daily work, and cover supervisory duties when needed.
• Participate in on‑call and weekend supervisor rotations to ensure continuous campus support.
• Perform any additional duties assigned to maintain sanitary conditions in Residential Life.

Required profile

• Minimum one year of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food‑service work.
• Ability to communicate via email and use basic computer applications.
• Willingness to work on‑call emergency shifts and weekend schedules.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the MAXIMO work‑order and purchasing system.
• Basic computer literacy (email, record‑keeping).
