About the role

Join the Residential Life team at LSU as a Custodian 1 or 2, providing essential cleaning and maintenance services for over 1.9 million square feet of student housing. This position involves frequent interaction with students, staff, and the public while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.

Key responsibilities

• Clean residence hall lobbies, bathrooms, hallways, and assigned areas (30%).
• Empty trash and recycling, handle bio‑hazardous waste, and decontaminate containers (20%).
• Strip, wax, and polish floors using industrial equipment (10%).
• Operate wet/dry vacuums, carpet extraction tools, and flood pumps for water removal (10%).
• Wash building exteriors, windows, and sidewalks with power washers and related equipment (10%).
• Unlock and lock campus buildings, managing assigned keys securely (10%).
• Set up tables, chairs, partitions, and signage for special events and move office furniture as needed.

Required profile

• High degree of public contact and interaction with students and staff.
• Ability to work safely with hazardous materials and follow written standards.
• Responsibility for key security and adherence to campus safety protocols.
• Physical stamina for lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.

Required skills

• Operation of wet/dry vacuum equipment.
• Carpet extraction and floor stripping/waxing techniques.
• Use of power washers and commercial window cleaning tools.
• Mixing and applying cleaning solutions according to label directions.
• Key management and basic security procedures.
