Culinary Instructor – Correctional Facility

About the role

The State of Georgia seeks a dedicated Culinary Instructor to teach entry‑level culinary courses at the McRae Correctional Facility. You will deliver hands‑on instruction, assess student performance, and maintain accurate records while supporting adult learners in a secure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide instruction in basic culinary techniques to incarcerated students.
• Apply appropriate teaching methods, testing, and grading procedures.
• Maintain grade books, inventory of kitchen equipment, and other required records.
• Follow the approved course syllabus and submit timely reports.
• Demonstrate current industry practices and ensure safety standards are met.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current active chef certification (e.g., ServSafe Food Protection Manager).
• At least three years of paid full‑time culinary work experience.
• Preferred: College diploma or higher in culinary arts or a related field.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
