Critical Care Technician – MICU (Shift 3)

About the role

The Critical Care Technician (CCT) works under the direction of a Registered Nurse in the MICU at Froedtert Hospital. The CCT provides delegated, age‑appropriate care, assists with basic nursing and personal care tasks, and may perform continuous safety observation.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver delegated patient care in the Critical Care Unit following competency assessments.
• Assist patients with basic nursing, personal care, and restorative services.
• Perform essential critical‑care tasks learned during CNA training or basic nursing courses.
• Provide continuous safety observation when required.
• Report to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager and on‑duty RNs each shift.
• Complete any additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a Critical Care Tech course (or equivalent) within 6 months of hire.
• State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification, or enrollment in an accredited nursing program with documentation of basic nursing course completion and at least one acute‑care medical/surgical rotation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or equivalent) within 90 days of hire.
