Criminal Investigator – Agriculture Law Enforcement

About the role

The Georgia Department of Agriculture seeks a Criminal Investigator 3 to enforce agriculture‑related laws, protect animal welfare, and ensure food safety. This position works closely with other agencies and stakeholders to safeguard Georgia’s agricultural sector.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough investigations of suspected violations of agriculture laws and regulations.
• Collect, preserve, and analyze evidence such as documents, physical samples, surveillance footage, and witness statements.
• Perform routine inspections of farms, shelters, and related facilities to verify compliance with animal welfare, food safety, pesticide use, and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with law‑enforcement entities, government agencies, and agricultural organizations to coordinate enforcement actions.
• Prepare reports and testify in legal proceedings related to agriculture law enforcement.
