Criminal Background Check Lead

About the role

The State of Colorado is seeking a Criminal Background Check Lead to join the Division of Early Learning Licensing and Administration (DELLA). This position will support Colorado’s commitment to safe, high‑quality child‑care environments by overseeing the state’s criminal background screening processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate criminal background checks for staff and contractors involved with early‑learning licensing and monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with state regulations and privacy standards related to background screening.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to maintain accurate records and reporting.
• Provide guidance and training to staff on background check procedures.

Required profile

• Residency in Colorado is required.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule, including one on‑site day per week and full‑time on‑site during training.
• Strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
