Credentialing Specialist

About the role

Crossroads Talent Solutions is seeking a detail‑oriented Credentialing Specialist to provide credentialing and administrative support to the Defense Health Agency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. This full‑time, on‑site position ensures provider qualifications are accurate, current, and compliant with DHA, DoD, and NMCP requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Verify and review education, training, licensure, and background information for prospective and current clinical support staff and healthcare providers.
• Obtain, review, and organize credentialing documentation to establish authenticity and appropriateness of qualifications.
• Monitor and track professional licenses, certifications, registrations, DEA credentials, and training for providers.
• Research and respond to inquiries from external institutions regarding staff work history and performance.
• Maintain accurate credentialing records and ensure documentation remains current.
• Utilize healthcare and administrative databases to support credentialing requirements.
• Protect sensitive information and comply with PII, PHI, and CUI handling requirements.
• Perform routine administrative functions such as scanning, copying, faxing, printing, and typing.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in a healthcare environment with knowledge of credentialing.
• Understanding of healthcare occupations, medical terminology, and qualification requirements.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain required government access (CAC).
• Ability to pass background/security investigations and complete mandatory training.
• Ability to work on‑site at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth; telework not permitted.
