Creative Chess Tutor for Kids (Manhattan)

About the role

Story Time Chess is looking for enthusiastic, creative individuals to teach chess to children as young as three years old. The role combines storytelling with basic chess concepts and is performed in homes or schools across Manhattan.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, story‑driven chess lessons to individual children or small groups.
• Adapt lesson plans to the age, interests, and learning pace of each child.
• Build positive relationships with parents, schools, and the Brooklyn home office.
• Seek new teaching opportunities by contacting families, schools, and community groups.
• Maintain punctuality, responsiveness, and clear communication with families and the company.

Required profile

• Fun, animated personality with a genuine love for working with children.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to promote services.
• Highly organized, reliable, and responsive to emails and calls.
• Comfortable asking for referrals and pursuing new lesson opportunities.

Required skills

• Strong storytelling ability.
• Basic familiarity with the game of chess (mastery not required).
