CPT Operator

About the role

The CPT Operator will perform cone penetration testing and support a variety of field roles, such as field engineer, geologist, assistant field operator, or project coordinator, depending on project needs. This position is based in the Chicago area and requires flexibility, travel, and the ability to work outdoors in all conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cone penetration testing (CPT) operations at various sites.
• Assist field engineers or geologists with data collection, sample handling, and documentation.
• Serve as an assistant field operator or project coordinator as project demands evolve.
• Travel throughout the Chicago market and across North America to support site investigation programs.
• Maintain equipment, ensure safety compliance, and accurately record findings.

Required profile

• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently in remote locations.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb, climb, crawl and work in all weather conditions.
• Clean driving record; Class A or B commercial driver’s license is a plus.
• College degree in engineering, geology or related field is desirable.
