About the role
The Kansas Judicial Branch is seeking a Court Services Officer I to conduct presentence investigations for the 18th Judicial District. This entry‑level position supports the District Court by gathering and analyzing criminal histories, interviewing involved parties, and preparing comprehensive pre‑sentence reports.
Key responsibilities
- Research and compile criminal histories for District Court cases.
- Interview, communicate with, and document information from defendants, victims, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct urinalysis and breathalyzer testing as required.
- Prepare detailed pre‑sentence investigation reports for judges.
- Obtain and maintain SASSI, WRNA, and LS/CMI certifications within the first year and renew annually.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in corrections, counseling, criminology, psychology, social work, sociology, or a closely related field.
- Strong attention to detail, written communication, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision.
Required skills
- Proficiency with standard computer applications and data entry.
- Knowledge of interviewing techniques and written communication standards.
