About the role

The County Extension Agent for Family & Consumer Sciences delivers practical, community‑focused education that helps individuals and families improve nutrition, health, food safety, and economic self‑sufficiency. Working within Boone County, the agent partners with local volunteers and stakeholders to build resilient, informed communities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver educational programs on nutrition, family well‑being, health, food safety, and economic self‑sufficiency.
• Engage a broad audience of residents, volunteers, and local organizations to encourage participation and support.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the county’s social, economic, and political landscape.
• Serve as a liaison between the university extension service, community leaders, agencies, and government entities.
• Collect feedback and assess program impact to continuously improve outreach efforts.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of community dynamics and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and public‑speaking skills.
• Commitment to promoting health, nutrition, and economic empowerment.
• Relevant education or experience in family and consumer sciences, agriculture extension, or a related field.
