County Extension Agent - Family & Consumer Science/4-H

About the role

The County Extension Agent – Family & Consumer Science/4-H delivers community‑based educational programs that empower individuals and families in nutrition, health, food safety, and economic self‑sufficiency. Working within Columbia County, the agent collaborates with volunteers and local partners to address the unique needs of the community.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver practical workshops and outreach activities on nutrition, family well‑being, health, food safety, and economic development.
• Engage and coordinate local volunteers and 4‑H youth participants to support program delivery.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the county’s social, economic, and political landscape.
• Serve as a liaison with community leaders, agencies, and government entities.
• Develop educational materials, evaluate program effectiveness, and report outcomes.
• Support 4‑H youth development initiatives and related events.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of community dynamics and ability to work with diverse audiences.
• Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
• Experience in extension services, family & consumer science, or related fields.
• Ability to develop and assess educational programs.
• Degree in agriculture, nutrition, family studies, or a related discipline.
