County Extension Agent - Agriculture

About the role

The County Extension Agent – Agriculture leads agricultural and 4‑H youth development programs for Desha County. This position provides education to residents, builds community support, and serves as a key liaison between the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture and local stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an annual action plan based on identified county needs and programmatic sub‑committee input.
• Deliver educational workshops, demonstrations, and outreach activities on agricultural topics.
• Coordinate 4‑H youth programs, fostering leadership and skill development.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Arkansas Extension programs and resources.
• Serve as an effective liaison with local community leaders, agencies, and government officials.
• Collect and report data on program impact and community feedback.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of the social, economic, and political characteristics of Desha County.
• Experience in agricultural extension, community outreach, or related fields.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse audiences.
• Ability to develop strategic plans and manage program implementation.
