About the role
Uber’s Litigation Team is seeking a business‑oriented attorney to manage a broad portfolio of U.S. corporate litigation across all delivery lines, including Uber Eats. Reporting to a Legal Director, the role can be based in San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, Washington D.C., or New York and offers the chance to work on high‑impact, fast‑paced legal matters.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead strategy for diverse corporate litigation matters at all procedural stages, from pre‑litigation threats to class certification, trial, arbitration, and appeal.
- Conduct fact investigations, draft and revise legal briefs, respond to discovery requests, prepare witnesses, and negotiate settlements.
- Manage in‑house litigation work and supervise outside‑counsel relationships, including staffing, strategy, budgets, invoices, and compliance.
- Provide concise, practical legal advice to business units on contracts, advertising, trade‑secret protection, and product development.
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate litigation risks across the organization.
Required profile
- J.D. and a license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
- Minimum of five years of broad litigation experience in a law firm or in‑house legal department.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cases through pleadings, motions, e‑discovery, dispute resolution, and trial.
- Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills with solid case‑evaluation capabilities.
- High ethical standards and the ability to work effectively with senior business leaders.
- Preferred: experience with court hearings, depositions, mediations or trials; familiarity with e‑discovery processes and document‑retention policies.
