Costing & Financial Analysis Specialist

About the role

The Costing & Financial Analysis Specialist supports manufacturing operations by providing accurate product costing, analyzing plant performance, and driving financial planning activities. This role works closely with production, supply chain, and engineering teams to improve cost visibility, strengthen controls, and enable data‑driven decisions that enhance profitability and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze standard costs, BOMs, routings, labor rates, and overhead allocations.
• Oversee inventory valuation, perform cycle counts, reconcile variances, and support inventory accuracy initiatives.
• Investigate material usage, scrap, labor efficiency, and overhead variances; recommend corrective actions.
• Track and report manufacturing KPIs such as OEE, throughput, yield, downtime, and cost per unit.
• Lead plant‑level budgeting and forecasting for production volumes, labor, overhead, and capital expenditures.
• Build financial models for capacity planning, make‑vs‑buy decisions, ROI analysis, and scenario planning.
• Support month‑end close activities, including cost roll‑ups, inventory reconciliations, journal entries, and plant P&L analysis.
• Partner with operations, engineering, procurement, and supply chain to improve cost accuracy and optimize processes.
• Enhance costing methodologies, ERP data integrity, reporting automation, and financial controls.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements related to inventory and costing.

Required profile

• Proven experience in manufacturing cost accounting or financial analysis within an industrial environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a focus on variance analysis.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams including production, engineering, and supply chain.
• Knowledge of GAAP and internal audit processes.
• Experience supporting month‑end close and budgeting cycles.
