Cost Accountant – Manufacturing Operations

About the role

The Site Cost Accountant joins Arq’s finance team to drive financial transparency and cost discipline across its activated carbon manufacturing sites. You will partner with plant leadership, corporate finance, and supply‑chain teams to turn operational data into actionable financial insight.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee cost of goods sold, inventory valuation, production variances and capital spending for manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with the Plant Controller to deliver timely plant‑level reporting, standard costing and robust financial controls.
• Analyze manufacturing performance, identifying cost drivers and opportunities for margin improvement.
• Develop and monitor operational KPIs that support forecasting, budgeting and continuous improvement.
• Prepare monthly operational financial packages and assist FP&A with forecasts, annual budgets and long‑range planning.
• Maintain and refine standard cost models, bills of materials and routings in partnership with engineering.
• Lead physical inventory counts and cycle‑count programs to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Support capital investment analysis, ROI modeling and project tracking for operational initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a capital‑intensive, continuous‑production environment.

Required skills

• Standard costing and variance analysis.
• Inventory accounting.
• Proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP or Oracle.
• Advanced financial modeling in Excel.
• Strong understanding of cost management in manufacturing operations.
