About the role
The State of Illinois is hiring Correctional Officer Trainees to work at its correctional facilities. Trainees receive up to three months of formal on‑the‑job training in security and custodial duties before becoming fully sworn officers.
Key responsibilities
- Complete eight weeks of formal security training at the IDOC Training Academy.
- Perform custodial and security duties under supervision at one of the state’s 26 correctional centers.
Required profile
- Physically fit to meet screening standards prior to academy attendance.
- Authorized to work full‑time in the United States without sponsorship.
Required skills
- Ability to follow security protocols and maintain safety in a correctional environment.
- Basic proficiency in using standard correctional equipment and communication tools.
