About the role
The Correctional Officer Trainee program provides a three‑month on‑the‑job training experience at the Illinois Department of Corrections. Trainees will learn security and custodial duties while preparing for a career in public safety.
Key responsibilities
- Complete eight weeks of formal pre‑service security training at the IDOC Training Academy.
- Perform security and custodial duties under supervision at Logan Correctional Center.
- Participate in a formal graduation ceremony and receive certification and badge upon successful completion.
Required profile
- Physically fit and able to meet screening standards prior to training.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
- Willing to work onsite at the Lincoln, IL facility.
