About the role
The Correctional Officer Trainee position provides a three‑month on‑the‑job training program in security and custodial duties for the Illinois Department of Corrections. Trainees will learn essential correctional skills and will be sworn into the Oath of Office upon successful completion.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in eight weeks of formal pre‑service security training at the IDOC Training Academy.
- Perform security and custodial duties under supervision at Menard Correctional Center.
- Maintain safety and order within the facility while adhering to department policies.
Required profile
- Physically fit to meet screening standards prior to training.
- Authorized to work full‑time in the United States.
- Willingness to work onsite at a correctional facility.
Required skills
- Ability to follow security protocols and procedures.
- Basic understanding of custodial responsibilities.
