Corporate Counsel – Litigation & Enterprise Risk

About the role

Amazon’s legal department seeks an experienced litigator to lead and shape the company’s worldwide commercial litigation portfolio. The role involves handling novel legal issues that arise from emerging technologies and providing strategic guidance across a broad range of business areas.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute litigation strategies for individual cases.
• Select, manage, and improve the performance of outside counsel.
• Advise senior leadership on emerging legal and business risks.
• Coordinate with witnesses, data repositories, and internal teams to prepare for trial.
• Collaborate with public policy and public relations on litigation‑related matters.
• Develop innovative processes that enable rapid, high‑volume decision‑making.
• Provide cross‑functional leadership on issues involving contract, business tort, consumer protection, real estate, transportation, advertising, privacy, security, class actions, and First Amendment law.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor and admission to at least one state bar.
• 5+ years of post‑bar legal experience, preferably in complex commercial litigation.
• Proven ability to build case strategies, assess risks, and align legal tactics with business objectives.
• Experience presenting legal issues to executive leadership and managing class‑action defense.
• Strong understanding of internet, software, media industries and related regulatory environments.
