About the role
Saronic Technologies is seeking a Controls System Engineer to design, develop and maintain automated control solutions for maritime and industrial operations. You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical and software teams to deliver safe, high‑performance control systems.
Key responsibilities
- Design, program and commission PLC, DCS and SCADA systems for industrial processes.
- Develop control architecture, select hardware, write IEC 61131‑3 logic and create HMI screens.
- Perform system modeling, simulation and PID/feed‑forward tuning to optimise control strategies.
- Execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for new or modified systems.
- Troubleshoot control faults, minimise downtime and produce technical documentation (narratives, loop diagrams, I/O lists).
- Work with process engineers to translate requirements into control specifications and ensure compliance with IEC 61511, IEC 62443, NFPA 79 and other safety standards.
- Provide training and technical support to operations and maintenance staff.
- Participate in HAZOP, SIL assessments and implement safety‑instrumented functions (SIF).
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in controls system design and implementation.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric) using IEC 61131‑3.
- Experience with SCADA/HMI platforms such as Ignition, FactoryTalk or WinCC.
- Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, OPC‑UA).
- Familiarity with instrumentation, field devices and core process‑control concepts.
- Analytical mindset with solid problem‑solving abilities.
