Controller – Real Estate Finance Leader

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function for a well‑established real‑estate firm in New York City. You will oversee a team of five professionals and ensure accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and cash management.

Key responsibilities

• Direct a staff of five in all accounting activities, including month‑end close and financial statements.
• Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports.
• Manage cash handling, banking relationships, and treasury functions.
• Coordinate with an external accounting firm for annual audits and tax filings.
• Develop and evaluate employee performance, delegating tasks effectively.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred).
• 12+ years of professional accounting experience, primarily in real‑estate, with a focus on residential properties.
• Strong communication skills and proven ability to lead and develop staff.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MRI property‑management software.
• Advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and reporting.
