Controller – Private Equity Firm

About the role

We are a boutique, mission‑driven private‑equity firm seeking a hands‑on Controller to join our leadership team. The role starts with 2‑3 days per week in our Boston office to build relationships, then transitions to a flexible hybrid/remote schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a small finance team and oversee both management‑company accounting and fund accounting processes.
• Provide strategic financial analysis to senior leadership and sit on the annual valuation committee.
• Assist with valuation of portfolio companies and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Manage month‑end close, financial statements, and compliance for the firm and its funds.

Required profile

• 10–25 years of accounting experience, including private‑equity, hedge‑fund, or wealth‑management environments.
• Prior experience as a Controller or in a comparable senior finance role.
• BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work both strategically and hands‑on, with a long‑term commitment to the firm.
