Controller – Manufacturing Finance

About the role

The Controller will join the Mill Leadership Team at West Fraser’s New Boston lumber mill, reporting directly to the General Manager. This full‑time, onsite role is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting cost‑improvement initiatives, and ensuring internal control compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the monthly financial close, including reconciliation of financial and operational metrics.
• Prepare and maintain mill financial forecasts (monthly, quarterly, annual) and weekly cost reports.
• Track capital project costs against budgets and analyze inventory control.
• Support internal controls, SOX testing, and compliance alongside the General Manager.
• Assist Accounts Payable, Payroll, Procurement, and Residuals processes as needed.
• Participate in system implementation, user testing, and process‑improvement workshops.

Required profile

• Four‑year degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
• CPA designation preferred or progress toward CPA.
• 3‑5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Detail‑oriented, results‑driven, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
