Controller – Manhattan, NY – $150K-$215K

About the role

Our client, a leading jewelry manufacturer and distributor, is seeking an experienced Controller to join their Manhattan office. The role will oversee all accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support strategic financial planning.

Key responsibilities

• Compile consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities across the business.
• Strengthen internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting.
• Maintain compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
• Coordinate month‑end and year‑end close activities, including reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting documentation and financial analyses.
• Evaluate financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities.
• Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, and related financial reporting.
• Analyze cost of goods sold, inventory costs, and operational performance metrics.
• Partner with operations and supply‑chain teams to support inventory, purchasing, shipping, and revenue accounting.

Required profile

• 8‑15 years of corporate accounting experience.
• Background in wholesale or retail industry.
• Experience with inventory accounting and valuation.
• Prior experience at a public company is a plus.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
