Controller – Luxury Apparel Company

About the role

This position offers a hands‑on accounting professional the chance to lead the finance function of a high‑end apparel brand. You will work closely with senior leadership, mentor a talented accounting team, and enjoy a balanced work‑life schedule with four days on‑site each week.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the final reviewer for all financial reporting and month‑end close activities.
• Oversee daily transactional accounting functions, including general ledger, AP, AR, and fixed assets.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing accounting team.
• Assess and enhance internal controls to reduce risk.
• Drive process‑improvement initiatives for efficiency and scalability.
• Partner with FP&A to provide analysis, insights, and decision support to senior leaders.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities.
• Support special projects and strategic initiatives as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
• Experience in both public accounting and private industry, preferably retail.
• Proven track record managing accounting in a multi‑entity environment.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and develop staff.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, financial reporting, and operational accounting.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with senior executives.
