Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function of Lewis, a leading utility vegetation management company. The role combines financial reporting, cost accounting, and partnership with operations to drive performance and support growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, fixed assets, and accounts payable.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual close and consolidation processes, delivering accurate financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and interpret new accounting standards.
• Partner with operational leadership to analyze financial performance, explain variances and provide actionable insights.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting procedures, internal controls and automation.
• Lead system implementation, upgrades and enhancements related to financial reporting.
• Develop and maintain cost accounting frameworks, profitability analysis and job‑cost reporting.
• Mentor and develop a high‑performing accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading accounting functions in a complex, growth‑oriented environment.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ability to interpret complex transactions.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with operations and IT to improve processes.
• Experience with month‑end close, consolidation and financial reporting.
• Leadership and mentorship skills to develop accounting staff.
