Controller – Hybrid Schedule

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing real estate and property operations organization, is looking for a strategic yet hands‑on Controller. This hybrid‑schedule position will lead accounting operations, ensure robust internal controls, and partner with executive leadership to support continued growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all accounting functions including general ledger, AP, AR, and financial reporting.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual close processes and prepare financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
• Maintain GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.
• Mentor, develop and manage the accounting team.
• Establish best‑practice accounting processes and ensure consistency.
• Provide technical accounting guidance and support budgeting, forecasting and long‑range planning.
• Monitor cash flow, financial performance and key operating metrics.
• Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with auditors and tax advisors.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations.
• Oversee third‑party accounting relationships and financial systems.
• Identify and implement process, reporting and efficiency improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams.
• 2+ years of multifamily property accounting experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Yardi accounting software.
